01 - Brass Circus
The Brass Circus
Intro
You all received your own invitations to the Brass Circus from the ringleader Papushar Dirijor. The circus is held in a large big-top red and brown with brass supporting poles. The sideshows around the massive tent are well executed. You can see snake charmers, strongmen, uni-cyclists, jugglers, escape artists, sword-swallowers, magicians, and others performing their marvellous acts.
As you pass through the sideshow, you reach the games. There are three small games here, all of which you can bet on your abilities. The first is a dice game with cups where players are calling out bets (Liar’s Dice). The second is a card game where the players pick out pairs and occasionally shout profanities when they see the card they pick from another player’s hand (Old Maid). The final game is another dice game with players adding numbers multiple times each round and betting going throughout (Bunco).
Your tickets place you in the front row, centre stage for the performance that awaits you. Papusar the MC and ringleader introduces the show with his voice booming through the whole tent, “Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to the Brass Circus. Here you will see incredible feats of dexterity, recklessness, and stupidity. We are all trained idiots, do not attempt to recreate the tricks we do here, it will likely end poorly. But without further ado, let the show begin!” As he grabs his whip from his hip and cracks it just behind his head, a bubble that was somehow obscuring your vision bursts, and you now see the complete troupe directly behind him as they all go to their stations.
Notes
Investigating The Twins’ Room
- Twins missing, hired to investigate
- Stilts still there
- One set of mismatched footprints
- Long black hair, no twin has black hair, Ringmaster has short black hair
- Broach with a strange sigil – Local watchmaker Beasly Gnackle family’s sigil
- Knowledge, intrigue based institution
- The area the twins vanish is half a day’s trek
Cult of the red eye – Old man called Geoff, cult is just a few dudes who get hay fever in one eye and believe it is a gift from the divine red eye
Brotherhood of the gentle hand
Watchmaker’s sigil, mother had a brooch, died 4 years ago. Brooch buried with her. Sigil passed down with the Gnackle name. Mother – Christine Gnackle - Died after seizing, and being racked with pains. The magical mark on the brooch is the same, it’s indistinguishable completely. Even the stones have the same imperfections and when light is shone through one the same stones on the other brighten as if the same light is coming out.
Powerful arcane practitioner or Affliction of the craftsman, think Jekyll and Hyde situation.
